Sam Dean – CEO / CPO
BEng (Hons)
Sam graduated from Queen Mary University of London in 2006 with an upper second class honours degree in Materials Science and Engineering.
Before founding PorthouseDean, Sam worked for global engineering leaders, Atkins, where he gained considerable experience with nuclear projects, carrying out seismic finite element structural analysis and managing station improvement projects among other roles.
In May 2012 Sam became Co-Owner and Director of PorthouseDean, and has since acted as technical lead on around 1000 small to medium scale residential and industrial projects.
Chris Porthouse – COO
MEng CEng MIstructE
Chris graduated from Leeds University in 2005 where he obtained a 1st Class Masters Degree in Civil and Structural Engineering. Chris has a wealth of experience; having led the design of a number of large scale commercial and residential developments for a leading North West consultancy.
Over his career, Chris has worked on a number of large scale commercial and industrial developments, but the bulk of his experience is within the residential sector — which has provided him with excellent understanding of the current Building Regulation requirements.
Chris is a fully qualified chartered structural engineer with the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE).
Guy Marshall – CTO
PhD MA (Cantab.) MSc CMath FIMA FRSA
Guy graduated from University of Cambridge with a 2.1 in Mathematics, continuing his studies at King’s College London with a MSc (Distinction, top of the year) in Theoretical Physics.
Since 2015 Guy has been an independent technology consultant, and is finalising his PhD in Artificial Intelligence from University of Manchester. He is also a Turing-funded researcher at Manchester Institute of Innovation Research.
Guy joined PorthouseDean as a co-owner in March 2022, looking after key client projects, supporting engineering team growth, and building the technology and R&D capability.
